Services we offer include:
Advanced Ultrasound-Guided Procedures
Ultrasound is commonly used to evaluate a fetus during pregnancy and to evaluate the function of the heart (echocardiogram). Ultrasound has also been found to be an effective way to visualize the joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and soft-tissue structures of the musculoskeletal system. Ultrasound is a minimally invasive, safe, and effective way to examine the musculoskeletal system both statically and dynamically without exposure to x-ray radiation.
Evidence-Based Medicine
At Delaware Sports Medicine, our goal is to provide the most evidence-based treatments to improve your care. Medicine is a constantly evolving field where the ideal treatment for a given condition changes frequently. Excellent research provides the evidence behind new medications, injections, and treatment protocols.
Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT, also referred to as shockwave therapy, or EPAT) treats your pain non-invasively. ESWT is an evidence-based treatment that was originally developed to disintegrate kidney stones several decades ago. Its mechanism of action is based on acoustic mechanical waves that act at the molecular, cellular, and tissue levels to generate a biological response.
Orthobiologics
Orthobiologics is an emerging field of medicine focused on using your own tissue or blood products to help a stubborn injury heal. Commonly referred to as regenerative medicine, stem cell therapy, cell-based therapy, or biologics, it can be used to treat osteoarthritis and chronic soft-tissue injuries such as tendon or ligament tears. In general, these treatments are not covered by insurance.
Regenerative Medicine
Regenerative medicine is about making you and your body the best you can be by repairing and restoring damaged tissues and using your body's natural healing abilities.

Keeping patients healthy is the common goal among medical professionals. Of the myriad of medical specialties that exist today, sports medicine is centered within a wellness-based (rather than disease-based) model. Beyond the abilities of other clinicians, sports medicine physicians, by virtue of their training, have the capability to take a sedentary population and incorporate the health-beneficial effects of exercise into people’s lives.
In today’s busy world, it’s important to have the ability to manage your healthcare needs remotely. We’re excited to offer Telehealth through Athenahealth. While many acute musculoskeletal injuries require a hands-on evaluation, some follow-up visits and most imaging and lab review can be done remotely. In addition, Telehealth services allow us to offer unique technologies and services such as Remote Therapeutic Monitoring. Please ask us about scheduling Telehealth visits.
